The Problem: Perfectionism Paralysis
As two brothers—engineers by training, but writers at heart—we faced the same psychological war with every project. The blinking cursor. The constant self-doubt. The merciless inner editor that demanded every sentence be perfect before we could write the next.
We'd spend hours perfecting a single paragraph, only to realize we'd created nothing new. It wasn't writer's block; it was a battle we were losing against ourselves.
The Epiphany: A Breakthrough Realization
The writing brain and the editing brain cannot coexist. One creates, the other critiques. Trying to do both at once is the root of all frustration.
This realization changed everything. We didn't need more features or a different app. We needed a radical solution: a way to forcibly silence the inner editor during the crucial creation phase. We needed to create a sanctuary for the creative mind, right within the Google Docs environment we already used.
The Solution: Engineering a State of Flow
We channeled our engineering mindset into this single problem. The solution was to build a tool that physically prevents you from looking back and editing. By gently blurring or hiding previous text, we could break the paralyzing write-edit-delete cycle.
The first prototype was simple, but the results were profound. Without the ability to constantly revise, the words began to flow freely. Our productivity quadrupled. More importantly, we rediscovered the joy of writing.
